Hello Zak -

I haven't read The Shack yet, but I read an article about the author recently.

In the Bible, God is referred to Abba, or father, in an intimate way. In other words, HE wants us to approach him and to be approachable. Many religions teach fear of God, which is healthy, but God is also a loving father. (By the way, I'm not defending the writer, just commenting on the Hebrew translation.)

Also, I agree with you that the words quoted, didn't seem like something Jesus would say. Jesus was clear about how to get to God, the father, in John 3:16.

Glad you blogged on this, I might just add this one to my reading list!

I agree- churches and denominations are very stubborn and often miss the big picture because they are so hung up on little things. People get comfortable with their religion (emphasis on religion) and don't want to change...
Maybe that quote by Jesus was referring to converts of religions-- people come from all religions, and God isn't trying to add numbers to Christianity, he just wants to come along side them leading them to the Father... Not really sure- but I hear it is a great book- I definitely will get a copy.
